Office (724) 836-6215 Toll Free 1 (800) 267-7062 Developmental Services Support RIHS provides intake and eligibility services for Westmoreland County’s Developmental Services Program to individuals birth through adulthood, with a diagnosis of intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities 0 to 8 years of age. Young Adult CareerSTEPS Program RIHS works closely with the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board (WIB) and Pennsylvania CareerLink to provide young adult education and training for eligible young adults between the ages of 16 and 24. The services are free of charge.

The Westmoreland County Crisis Hotline operates 365 days a year and is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Trained counselors assist persons in crisis, responding to a variety of calls ranging from depression, suicide, and other mental health issues to financial issues. The hotline crisis counselors also assist mental health consumers, their family, and concerned citizens with community resources and support.

The Bearcat B.E.S.T. program was born of the need, expressed by parents of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, for transition programming that would focus on the needs of young adults who, while they may not have the aptitude for post-secondary education, could achieve, with appropriate transition programming, a greater level of independence than a sheltered workshop would provide them. The goals of the program are to develop the students’ capabilities in each of the four pillar areas: academics, vocational training, activities of daily living and social skills.
